Totally forgot to post the picture for yesterday but since I have a big post today I figured I could just make it up with this one. So over the weekend I wanted to do the cake smash photo sesh with the Cupcake. I went to Albertson's in the morning and I had seen a cute cupcake that would have been great to use in the photo session but to me it seemed way too small. I instead purchased some cake mix and frosting and decided to just bake the cake that I would use in the session.
The process started off good. Marc didn't tell me he owned a hand mixer so I just whipped up the cake batter old fashion style. It wasn't too bad, this cake was made with love.
Then of course something bad would happen. So it was time for the cake to come out of the oven. Marc was being nice and offered to take it out for me...not the best idea. See I don't know exactly what he was thinking when he decided to only crack the oven open to take out a cake from a hot 375 degree oven. So when he reached in of course he would burn himself since the oven isn't open all the way and normal reaction was to toss the cake back in the oven but he flipped it of course.
Yup! That is my perfectly baked cake broken into pieces with the oven now open. It had burn marks because it touched the burners in the oven. It was perfect before my very smart boyfriend decided to help me. He felt bad but still I didn't want to make another one so he suggested it could just be put together since it is just a smash cake.
Yes you could see the broken parts on the side but we managed to place it so that you really couldn't tell that it was indeed broken. After the photoshoot with the Cupcake, we were able to eat some and it tasted really good. Now I will remember to not let the boyfriend anywhere anything that is suppose to look really good because he might just ruin it.
Oh and I will post a picture of the photo shoot with the cupcake just not yet since the pictures are meant to be on her invites for her birthday party.
