Cupcake is 6months old today. Wow...I can't say it enough, time does fly. So quite a bit has happened. I am no longer nursing like I use to, I have now cut it back to only once at 6am and once at 9pm. My milk supply had dropped due to me being sick with a cold, and I just couldn't bring my supply back up. I'm sad because it was a very loving and great bonding experience with my daughter, but I just wasn't making enough anymore. She's still drinking my milk, but my freezer stash is pretty much almost gone and will go on pure formula for the most part pretty soon.
We also just started pureed foods. It was time we tried food since she was showing signs she was ready for more stuff other than milk. I did my research and found what the age appropriate foods were for her age. I saw the list and decided veggies were what I wanted her to start with. The food I started her on was organic butternut squash, and it was a hit. She did pretty good eating it. Most people mentioned that babies always spit out their food the first couple of times you feed them and that they may take just one big spoonful. That was not the case here. She had about an ounce of food and she didn't spit it out. It was her first time eating, but we had already practiced drinking water from a "grown up" cup so I believe that's what helped her get the swallowing part down. Now we just have to follow the 4 day rule just to make sure she doesn't have an allergy.
Day one of eating food was a success and I enjoyed every minute of it.
