The hardest part about parenthood is finding time to yourself. Now you can plan all you want to make time for yourself while baby is sleeping, or baby is on the swing, or family is over. But in all honesty that is the time you use to shower, cook, clean, do laundry, run errands, and start all over again. Even when family is over and you think that just sitting their with your guests you will get some kind of break, well your not. Now you have become the host, and now your not only attending to your baby, but to your guests as well.
Finding that time for "ME-TIME" is just so darn impossible. I keep telling myself I'm going to hire a sitter and have a day at the spa, but who am I kidding. The spa is far from my home and it costs over $100 for a mere 30 minutes of relaxation. A friend gave me the idea to have a "at home spa day". She suggested I have Cupcake's dad come over and watch the baby for about 2 hours while I just relaxed in my room. Played some relaxing music that can easily be downloaded. Put some bath salts to soak in a hot bath, light up some aromatherapy candles and put on a face mask. Same experience as what the real spa would provide for me but for a cheaper price and at the comfort of my own home.
Maybe someday.

Mommy Tip Mondays: Grandma
I have a mom who, how shall I put it likes to take control of everything including my daughter. Momma always knows best is the saying. But she's grandma not mom! She's my mom, so she can raise me however she'd like but when it comes to my baby, well that is my job.
Cupcake has begun to be a lot more verbal, she gets fussy a lot more because she likes to be looking around, played with and not treated like a newborn anymore. My mother swears the baby is always going to be quiet and happy all the time. Just on Sunday, Cupcake was getting fussy because she wanted to take a nap my mom said something must be wrong with her since she's never fussy like that and told me to give her Tylenol. You can't medicate babies just because their fussy. As a new mom I know I don't know everything, but I try my best to figure out what my baby needs, and I know for dam sure she didn't need Tylenol. All she needed was momma to hold her and pat her to sleep. That's it! No Tylenol needed.
So lesson is go with your intuition, try everything you know of with your baby before you resort to extreme measures.

Mommy Tip Mondays

The tip of the day is:
Try not to be the bad guy when it comes to your kids. I got Cupcake's ears pierced and I know that if I'm the one holding her down when she's about to get poked, well she is gonna be really mad at me afterwards. So when I pierced her ears I had her daddy hold her down, and he ended up being the bad guy. Every time he would try to console her, she was not happy to see him and she would start to cry. So here is where mommy comes and saves the day and then she is happy. So again make everyone else be the bad guy besides you.
