Over that bump

I am so proud to say that I have finally gotten over this plateau I was in. You know the one where I was sitting at 160 pounds for over what like 6 months now. Maybe a little less.

I haven't been in the 150's since 2005. So it feels great to finally be closer to my goal weight. But with that being said. 158 looks a lot different now than it did in 2005. I mean I do have a kid now so my body isn't going to look the same but I am hoping I could get pretty close. I still look super duper flabby but I am working on that. I have been more active this week and I am drinking a cagillion one gallon of water a day.

I feel amazing because I am now that much closer to my goal weight. I am happy that I will soon no longer be considered over weight but healthy. I have definitely cleaned up my diet. I have had pizza and wendy's here and there but I manage to kill it in my workouts.

My goal is to really lose those 8 pounds by the end of september. I would be nice to be in the 140's which is what I was at right after high school. My ultimate weight would be what my driver's license says 133 pounds. I just have to push myself even further.

NOW GO AND DO 50 SQUATS!

Weight loss

So the last time I spoke about my weight was quite a while ago. I have had my ups and downs since then. I had gained and lost. What a roller coaster I was on. I guess I saw a lot of "dieting" and not so much lifestyle change. I have dropped 20 pounds so far since I started my weight loss journey and I am so proud of myself. It has taken longer to drop the weight because like I said I was dieting and not so much changing my lifestyle. I was still drinking a lot, eating chips, donuts, candy, etc. I had a lot of cheat days and even cheat meals which obviously didn't help. I also was not exercising enough.

Now, I have gone through quite a change. I have changed a lot about the way I see food and how I see myself. One of the things that really help me stay away from foods I know I shouldn't be eating is reading things like this:

I want that body I use to have back in high school. Even better, I want the body I never had. I want to have awesome definition in my arms, legs and abs. I know that with constant motivation and self control I will achieve my goal. At first I saw myself saying I want to lose weight, I want to lose weight. Now, I say I want to get fit, get FIT! You could weigh xx amount of pounds and look like whatever you want. Every body is different. I am trying to lose weight right now just so that I can be at a healthy weight because I am still in the Overweight range, no longer considered obese.

How I am doing it so far is through tons of support from the Bubba. We both love to eat greasy and rich foods. But now we go for the leaner and fresh choices. Instead of having red meat, we opt for white meat. Instead of white breads its wheat/whole grain. Less Cheetos more regular tortilla chips with salsa or fruit. Instead of being lazy, we go to the park, or we workout outside. I am also working out at home doing different things to keep motivated and not to tired of the same thing. My workouts are a variation of different things. I lift weights twice a week which I will now make 4 times a week. I will do the 30 day shred, jog, power walk, yoga, dance, zumba, etc. I find that not sticking to the same workout keeps me more motivated and more excited to workout.

I still have about 20 pounds to hit my goal weight and I know I will get there. I am just glad the Bubba is now riding this healthy lifestyle train.

Struggling with my weight

I have been struggling with weight issues since like forever. No really, it really goes back to when I was really little. My parents nicknamed me 'Gorda'. That's pretty much fat in Spanish. It wasn't said in a mean way, it was like a cute nickname but obviously they gave me that name because I was indeed chubby. Anyways, when I was in High school I suffered from anorexia. Not a lot of people know that about me. They just thought I was hitting puberty and getting taller so I was "thinning out". I was actually starving myself. I lived on one bologna sandwich a day. That's pretty much it, oh and water. I did 200 crunches every night before bed, and I would run 1.5 miles every morning. I know not much but was enough to make me drop from a size 11 to size 5 in 2 months. I felt really crappy, I slept all the time and I had no energy. I also started turning yellow and had bad anemia. BUT DAMN I LOOKED GOOD! Yup that was my mentality. I stayed like this for about 3 years. I did start eating a little more but not to much and I increased  my sit ups to 400, and I now ran 2 miles. Well when I got out of high school I got a job at a fast food joint.

I gained about 15 pounds after high school. I didn't look bad or fat. I was a little chubby but I guess you could say I looked normal. Well I started partying, drinking, you name it. The pounds also started to come on. Before I got pregnant I was at 162 pounds. Yikes! My license says I weigh 130. Ha! I wish I was back at that weight. So I got pregnant and my weight at 9 months pregnant was 192. Well I gave birth and all the weight came off. I was at 162 again, but not for long. I started eating like crazy because I was nursing the cupcake and had the mentality that nursing meant eat like a lumberjack. I realized 20 extra pounds later that that was not the case. At 182 I knew I had to lose weight.

I joined a little competition like The biggest Loser. Whoever lost the most weight in percentages of course by a specific date would win the jackpot. Of course money would motivate me so I joined. The competition is over and well I didn't win the money but I did win me some motivation and will power. I have dropped about 17 pounds since I started and I am going to keep on truckin'. My goal weight is 140, it's not what my drivers license says but it will be a healthy weight for my height and age.

How I dropped those 17 pounds was with some clean eating and exercise. It took me about 3-4 months to lose that much. I could have lost more but it was around the holidays and I couldn't resist all the yummy food and the booze. It's now 2012 and I have made a promise to my daughter to get fit so that I can keep up with her. I want to live a long and healthy life, and at the rate I was going that was not going to happen. Don't get me wrong, this path is tough, I want to quit and eat cookies and cake and chips and all the other junk out there. But that little face that lights up my day each and every day reminds me that the chips and the soda are so no worth it. I don't have before and after pictures because it's not like it was a drastic weight loss, but I do plan to do before and after when I actually notice a difference in how I actually look. So an update should be coming up soon, I want to be at 155 pounds by the Cupcake's birthday I know I can do it.

Cheer me on!
